Well, he may be right. Of course Land Rover will never admit it.

There are a lot of “will”s and “is going to”s in there for something that

a. the Africa concept is a, um, concept with no chance of production.

b. No one knows when the defender will return.

Time traveling Jeeps have ruined time travel for everybody.

If Jeep concepts were A Thing in terms of actually getting made, I’d be really tempted to outlay money for an FC or a pickup. Nope.

The Africa concept is my my favorite jeep tease since the FC, its SO right it hurts. What they would need to do is drop in a heavy axle, maybe on leaf springs and give it the one thing the wrangler doesn’t have: room to carry stuff and the payload to do it safely. If they did that it would sell pretty well I think, though they would have to trim it out like a wrangler and it wouldn’t be as spartan as the concept.

No time travel necessary, the Wrangler Africa was a 2015 Easter Jeep, the Defender ended production almost exactly 1 year later. Coincidence? I think not. Or probably. Yeah, probably.

Yeah the FC is really pretty, is such a pity Jeep doesn’t want to be seen as a agricultural vehicle anymore.

They don’t need leafs to do that, they’d be fine with a set of good heavy duty coils.

But it is a seriously awesome vehicle that I would totally be tempted to buy.

I was just looking into this, the GAWR on even the burliest DANA 44's in the Rubicons is NOT up to the task this vehicle demands. They need a full floater stat. with a full floater on back (and with a beefed up front) they could bump their payload and towing up and offer something that the adventure type (not the crawlers) have always wanted.

Pretty much, just do something similar to what Land Rover did. Have a set of full floating DANA 60's with heavy duty springs and you have a GAWR close to 8000 lbs which is more than any of us would need.

yup, seems like FCA could grab get a pretty sweet deal on a FF from AAM or DANA

You can buy a Jeep J8. They are spendy but tick every one of those boxes.

The Discovery/LR5 is the next big launch, so I’d guess 2018/19. However even if it got postponed a decade it’s still going to come out sooner than the Africa concept (and every other cool Jeep concept)

Looking at the AEV website is seems they don’t sell them anymore. They used to sell them to civilians as a kit.

Sooo... Jeep put a jeep face on the front of a 109 and called it a concept?

Pretty much, but I wish somebody would now that Land Rover isn’t anymore (At least only for the moment hopefully)
